I think that if saad and meyers are withdrawn and other judges selected to fill the vacancies, unless we get a real extreme case, we will not see filibuster again anytime soon. For SCOTUS, dems will allow reps to use a Renquist like conservative or a moderate like Gonzales without a problem. Next time a problem arises is when a moderate/liberal judge retires. Dems will expect bush to choose someone who they consider a moderate for that one. I think 2 may resign now in tandem and a con and a mod/lib selected. I think the republicans have chosen 7 of 9 currently and most of the folks called liberals are moderates who drifted to the liberal side once on the court. Ginzburg is a liberal and i think of Breyer as more of moderate. SC is pretty middle of the road--think most of the liberals are on circuit and appeals. mike
