In retrospect, that formation was not an ascending triangle, but ended up being a topping pattern with a blow-off top and gap down on the backside.

But I suppose one could also argue that is was a short-term trading range with a bull trap at the end and subsequent failure at the lower support level of that trading range. Interesting.

Either way, the consequences are pretty much the same.
