Bush was not re-elected by a "nice" margin. Christopher Hitchens (a Bush supporter) investigation shows 30,000-40,000 Ohio votes stolen from Kerry, not even including possible Diebold voting machine fixes, which would be a huge scandal. Exit polls that day showed Kerry ahead in most battleground states so there is reason to believe in gross hanky-panky.

Without Ohio, Bush would have lost. And the outcome in Ohio is suspect, as sizeable as it was.

But even if Bush did truly win last year, he did so immorally, by exploiting the war, terrorism (a half dozen phony terrorist alerts, remember?), an outrageous smear campaign against Kerry, dozens of ridiculously dishonest negative ads and getting help from moderate Republicans who oppose most of his policies. So he won by fighting dirty basically. Karl Rove's specialty.

As Bush's 50% disapproval rating today shows, if that election were re-held, Bush would probably not win.
