I don't consider Google a high growth company from here. However, I wouldn't be surprised if it can grow its earnings into its market cap within the next few years.

Search is really only the starting point and what got it out of the gate. However, because of its size, it can now afford to play on a much bigger stage.

What they are trying to do is to leverage search into a much bigger part of the pie. Just judging by the efforts that its competitors now put into search, it is obvious that search is considered the major gateway to revenues.

We are a curious species and whoever can facilitate our desire to learn or be entertained will be sitting at the spigot where money flows. Search and the evaluation of search results will be a big part of incremental artificial learning. Artificial learning will be the crutch for our limited abilities. Just look at how we argue our points today with a battle of links all made possible because of search.

Google is not alone and already has some formidable competition in Yahoo and MS. In time, most purchases will at least partially involve search and therefore result in revenue sharing. I therefore hope that search interfaces will become standardized and therefore not as easily dominated by a single big player. The dangers are obvious not only from a consumer point of view.

I believe that the full potential of companies in this space has not been appreciated by most. Search/learning/desire access tools will be THE gateways to just about any activity in the future.
