Would tamiflu have any effect on a new strain, bird flu or otherwise? If so, what's the shelf life? And you are right, when the next pandemic arrives, there will be no room at the hospital for you.

For what it's worth, I did some reading at the CDC regarding masks, and they postulate that they are almost useless for SARS and influenza. Best just to stay away. Boil anything touched by anybody else, such as your mail. <ng>
