The prohibition against contraception was not enforced in Connecticut, sort of like the prohibition against adultery in Virginia, or the prohibition against showing movies on Sunday in Maryland. Legislatures are not all-wise, but it's ridiculous to poke fun at modern legislatures because they don't spend the time getting rid of all archaic laws. I suppose you'd argue for a Constitutional right to show movies on Sunday and engage in adultery. After all, these, too, are foolish laws, as is the Carmel ordinance that requires women to get a permit before they wear high heels. washingtonpost.com
