It's way down on my list of travel destinations, just north of Liberia. Not in this lifetime. I read a lot from people who DO go there, or live there.

That would be wonderful... I would love to see the entire region. I would love to go to Rome, or Florence. But I have other obligations. Instead I study. Sometimes I study ancient history. I cannot possibly go back in time, nor can I always trust what I read, so I must have many different sources, with different viewpoints. Even then, because history is written by the victor, I often have to read between the lines.

That is why people go to school. To learn about things that do not exist anymore, or that have been spun by historians. Sometimes professors spin things, too.

All a person can do is be as honest and objective as possible. And research thoroughly. But, at some point one must draw some sort of conclusion. At some point a person must stand up for what he or she believes to be just and right (not left or right, but right or wrong, morally).

One day I may fulfill my ambition to see Israel up close and personally taste the air, stay for weeks, know the people.

I hope all the things that make Israel a place of hope and Godliness are not destroyed before I get there...

Still sorrowful about Iraqi treasures... and the Afghan buddhas... So long to create, so long standing...and, so gone.

Life is brief... and we humans often seek power in vain, finding destruction of what makes us great in the course of our pride. I do hope we can pursue more greatness. And preserve the treasures we have.

Respectfully,
i.
