seventh_son,

You definitely didn't run into me before on this subject or similar, as this was my first post ot this kind (I mean on mining stocks). My interest in the subject was increased after I've seen parts from a recent documentary:

ujeldorado.hu

Whether or not you think this mine is a good idea for the area, there are facts that were not uncovered yet by Gabriel.
For example I don't know how many potential investors in GBU know that the decision bu the Culture Ministry to lift archeological protection was suspended in January this year by a court in Alba Iulia or that at about the same time the government asked for further environmental studies of the project.

Also, RMGC recently got a permit to make geological investigation in Rosia Montana (on 20th of April) and they may have succeeded (the decision could have been challenged by 4th of May and I don't have any update on this). However, in this decision, there are conditions which may not be easy to meet (e.g. any influence on the health of population or animals would mean stopping the project immediately and effectuate additional studies), especially with such a strong (honest or not) opposition.
The full text of the decision can be found in Romanian at:
apm-alba.ro

Fact about Gabriel is that they are spending millions of investors money pursuing this project which I think has very little chance to succeed (For example they spend about $7,000,000 only to support archeological projects).
Comparing the money spent by Gabriel with those made by the Swiss environmentalists (I've only read about one of them winning the Goldman Prize of $125,000).

PS. I don't know anything about the Swiss cottage industry that you mentioned, but if they make so much money, then I'll start investing in them 8-).
