How do you think a large percentage of our own population would react if we had Muslim men running around with guns and we thought they were punishing Christians and desecrating our sacred religious symbols?

We don't have to think about that. We saw our reaction after 9/11.

I agree with your point that we usually should not deliberately offend people.
At the same time, I think it is usually too high a standard to hold soldiers to when you order them to close with, kill, and destroy the enemy in a battlefield fight to the death.

Killing is the ultimate offensive action.

Seems to me that 9-11, the USS Cole, WTCI, 2 Embassies, the Marine compound, and various other Muslim atrocities have been enough to open our eyes and ears to what the fundamentalists think....Plus we have heard what their leaders have said, including Bin Laudin, that their intent is to "kill Americans, Christians and Jews"....

How much more do you think we should do to just ignore their warnings....?
