i don't know, brian....

all i do know is appeasement toward murderous despots and their followers has never worked and never will

big word, never

rarely do i use it with a proclamation, but i see how the concept of

never

as in

'never again'

or

'we will never forget'

is being increasingly eroded and forgotten

as we go about business as usual

i only hope it doesn't take another 9/11 or worse to awaken some out of their complacency

Unbelievable! When are people going to wake up...

Reposted from another thread. I have been trying to explain this to people on SI since before our invasion of IRAQ.

Well let's see? There are at least 6 major forces in and about the region of Iraq that are in contention for power and left to their own recourses would effect the change with brutal and violent means. They are racist, fundamental, tyrannical, tribal, and political in general make-up who would attempt to commit genocide one to another if given full reign.

Fundamentally, you could divide the majorities into Shi'ite and Sunni Muslim groups. We have heard a lot from the radical Sunnis via the Wahabi leader AL-Zaraqawi's followers. These extremists have voiced their intent to annihilate the Shi'ites of the region. Their counterparts on the Shi'ite front are best recognized by AL-Sadr's leadership. He was able to stand down the entire US and Iraqi combined military forces in an insurgency a few months back. He negotiated a settlement with the aid of an Iranian Mullah. AL Sadr is the only insurgent allowed to simply walk away as a free man. He declared his radical forces still in tact and directed them to recruit for the AL-MAHDI Army. The MAHDI is a character in Shi'ite and Sunni lore that will be revealed at a certain point (AL Sadr says soon) to establish world rule by Islamic forces.

There are 1 billion Sunni/Shi'ite Muslims in the world who will definitely take sides to some degree or another when or if these contingencies clash. And of course, both have us at the top of their lists of barriers to world domination. So, if one or the other can gain a super power foot hold, we can expect them to come a knockin'.

How is that for starters?

There are other perspectives and other problematic concerns that are quite valid.

We can hope for a better outcome. Oh, and we can do better than just hope for it we can actively support one.

"Unbelievable! When are people going to wake up and realize that there are a group of people who want to kill us all?"

You want unbelievable? I had someone try to tell me there was
no global war on terror, nay, not even any real threat,
because there have been no attacks on American soil since 9/11
