In this case the Islamic Authority (such as it is) would be the doctrinal approval or condemnation of such practices. The accepted scholarly view is that the practice is to be condemned. The legal authority may be corrupted or influenced by extremists, which is another matter. for my part ... again ... I ask of my self that I take a stand on principle according to MY conscience and will not be bound to loyalties to the corrupt. Freedom is living without coercion from religious authority, political authority, or social authority … all of which are corrupt. They appear to be in contention but in reality are thoughtlessly striving to be one another. but then that's me. I am not speaking for others.
