ROFLMAO!
New York Times downgraded by A.G. Edwards (NYT) by Tomi Kilgore
NEW YORK (MarketWatch) -- New York Times (NYT) was downgraded to hold from buy at A.G. Edwards, which cited the uncertain advertising outlook, increasing competition and a lack of restraint on cost controls. On Wednesday, the newspaper publisher said it would reduce its workforce by 190 employees. "In our view, the reduction is a modest step towards reducing costs, but is not aggressive enough, considering the difficult advertising environment for large market newspapers," said Analyst Michael Kupinski in a note to clients. He cut his 2005 earnings estimate to $1.70 a share from $1.76, and his 2006 forecast to $1.85 a share from $1.99. The stock closed Wednesday down 62 cents at $31.90.

Oops, Never Mind

Power Line

The Pentagon reports that the Guantanamo detainee who claimed in August 2002 that a guard flushed a Koran down a toilet (do they have really big toilets there, or what?) was recently re-interviewed, and recanted the allegation:

<<<

"We've gone back to the detainee who allegedly made the allegation and he has said it didn't happen. So the underlying allegation, the detainee himself, within the last two weeks, said that didn't happen," chief Pentagon spokesman Lawrence Di Rita told a briefing.

Do you think that will quiet the "Newsweek was right!" chorus from the left? No, I don't either.
