I cant answer your question bill but this news in conjunction with the article in the times about rafsanjani may be a clue that this hard line regime may take the china road as opposed to the north korea one in relation to its own people at least. Prereqs are no nukes, new economy model, some political liberalization, AND not be 100% rejectionists on Israel and perhaps even play a part in the final settlement in the Mideast.
They have much in the area to worry them including instability in afganistan, possible civil war in iraq, instability on the other borders, US navy, Israeli bunker busters, the persian arab problem, not to mention domestic unrest. mike
