As I said, Haplogroups may show that you have some DNA in common with Jews in Ethiopia. But I bet the same DNA tests will show that the Ethiopian Jews have more DNA strands in common with other Ethiopians than with a Russian Jew. And if we go back far enough in time, we'll see that all humanity is related to one another in some form.

My question was why would that small strand of DNA that is in common between a Russian Jew and an Ethiopian Jew be any more significant than all the other strands those Jews have in common with their respective countrymen?

And if per chance I change my religion and become a Jew later on, how would that make me part of your ethnic group then and not before then?

I think he was thinking pre hitler europe. I dont think he meant to say that jews didnt relate to other jews but just not predominately in an ethnic way. Post holocaust and with Israel back in business, israel became for jews around the world what italy is for italians. If jews have more diverse dna than italians, its because they were dispersed and now all that dna is incorporated into jews around the world. We should get MQ into this debate. He has some unique ideas. Mike
