At one time in the Western World the Catholic Church was able to silence people who insisted upon thinking and talking about issues considered ‘undiscussable’. Copernicus and Galileo were branded heretics, for example. The Inquisition’s rulings were often unfair and founded on faulty or skewed evidence.

In modern times we pride our selves as having moved out of the dark ages … think again. We have only shifted our loyalties.

The Social Authority is corrupt and noble beings must fight against that for the nobility of being human. It starts with dropping the pretense that there is a correct side to be on in politics and under such a premise that 'anything goes' to advance the always correct side... The sides are oppositional likenesses of the same thing.

You are branded if you bring up a topic that the social authority doesn’t want discussed.

You are branded a racist if you start a discussion about border control.
You are branded a homophobe if you start a discussion about promiscuity.
You are branded a war monger if you take a stand against brutal tyranny.
If you question the policies or practices of the military you are branded a traitor.
Etc. etc. etc.

The social opprobrium is supposed to silence you, just as the 'heretic' brand of yore.

”"I have sworn upon the altar of God eternal hostility against every form of tyranny over the mind of man"? (Thomas Jefferson)

Would it be possible for us to have a thread in which people openly and honestly express their disagreements and discuss current topics and issues?

Best regards,
Jewel
