"Follow-up on Koppel's name reading

A few days ago I reported Ted Koppel was planning on once again reading the names and showing the faces of soldiers killed in Iraq and Afghanistan on the May 30th Nightline. Last year's recitation brought protests by Sinclair Broadcasting, which preempted the Memorial Day tie-in show on its affiliates. I asked whether, since this was not an election year, Sinclair would have the same reaction.

They did not. This year they are "applauding" the move and dismissing last year's reaction as one based on the broadcast happening during the sweeps period instead of being fueled by any political considerations. "
