It wasn't Israeli land to begin with. The Arabs had this 'war of conquest' thing. Do you suppose that if they had won and taken Tel Aviv, you would now be saying "it wasn't Jordanian land to begin with" or that they would be listening? The Jordanians attacked. They lost. On what point of principle should the aggressor in a war of conquest get a do-over on the war? Wouldn't that tend to encourage future wars of conquest? Heads I win, Tails do-over?
