Re. the 50 million, I have no problem as long as their were controls to prevent it being misused as Arafat did. Also have no problem with a guest worker program.

2 things I agree with a Democrat about - well there are plenty of things Clinton did which I have no problem with. Off the top of my head the bombing campaign over the Serbian campaign of ethnic cleansing in Kosovo is something I supported. Furthermore, I think the economic policies which lead to a budget surplus during the Clinton administration were sound.

As far as agreeing with Democrats today - since Bush's election - I don't know of anything they are for. They are against whatever Bush is doing and that's about it. Oh wait, I forgot, most Democrats voted for the war in Iraq - I agreed with them on that.

Oh you asked about Israel - things they have blown:

Gee, I only pay attention to the big issues there - the building of the wall whish was a good thing, the pullout of Gaza which who knows if that is good or not, the bombing of Iraq's nuke facility - thank God they did that.

One thing they really blew is they encouraged the islamic movement which eventually became hamas early on (before it turned to violence) hoping an islamic movement would be a more positive counterweight to the nationalist Fatah. That was a mistake - hamas became something just as bad, maybe worse. Also going back aways, they were stupid to allow Lebanese Christians into a Palestinian camp given the historic violence between the Palestinians and Lebanese Christians.

But in general, I consider that Israel exists and has a right to continue to exist and the root of the continuing problem is the utter refusal of much of the other side to accept that.
