They will certainly be viewed as the party with no new ideas, and obstructionists as well.

Apparently, on SS, at least for the moment, the Dems are well ahead in the PR battles. The notion they are saving SS from further ravaging by the Bush folk seems to be more the dominant theme.

The statistic that's always interested me in all this, and it's persistent, is that the longer Bush pushes his "plan," the further support for his "plan" drops, and it drops as much if not more in areas in which he campaigns.

Bush made a big mistake on this one. We'll see if the Dems are politically nimble enough to take advantage of it.
