As for proof - If there were indeed any proof, even of the existence of God, there would be no debate. Everybody would KNOW there is a God, and everybody would KNOW what His rules were. The reality is that there is no such proof. Actually, that isn't entirely true. If you read this thread with any regularity, then you know that I am not a religious zealot and am relatively sane........I think. <g> So what I am about to say will sound rather bizarre. I don't agree with you that there is no proof. I have had experiences that are not explained by science but can not be confirmed as acts of a god nor can they be proven in anyway. Most of those experiences occurred while I was under duress so you could use the excuse that they were imagined under stress. However, one occurred where there were no apparent problems and I was in a great state of mind. Since the last experience, I have done a search and found there are others in the world who have had similar experiences, experiences that would have to be labeled supernatural. Ironically, when I brought up the issue on this thread last year, it was completely ignored by those whom you would think would be the most interested......those who are strongly religious. Let me add some caveats. First, I don't expect you to believe me. I wouldn't believe someone else if they told me. Secondly, I don't know that it means there is an afterlife or that there is a god. I just know there is some kind of existence beyond this plane. Thirdly, the experiences I had were benign and very beneficial so that if they are a suggestion of a god, then he/she is a benign one. Fourthly, I have feared death since I was a kid of 5 and have never believed in an afterlife. Fifthly, I think all of man's religions are crap......IMO its man's poor version/interpretation of how an ompotent god would behave. Finally, I would appreciate if someone would ask a question...any question. Understand making a post like this one risks tremendous ridicule. But worse then the ridicule is being ignored completely. ;~)
