Jeff, If the stem cell bill was re-written so that the researchers had to fish the embryos out of the dumpster behind the fertility clinic - would THAT pass the wingnut test that those embryos would NEVER become a human? Never mind that the very question has researchers headed for foreign shores. Never mind that embryonic stem cells will likely be a bigger economic engine than microcomputers or the internet - everybody gets old, many have illnesses, ALL will pay whatever it takes for a cure. In dark ages America, we'll teach that the Earth is 6000 years old, our ancestors used to saddle up dinosaurs, and slip into decline, all with the blessings of our great leader Dumbya.
