It was an absurd bit of legislation that made no difference other then headlines. It didn't outlaw the guns in question at all, they just couldn't make new ones. Of course once they removed the bayonet attachment or put a smaller clip on them they could even continue to manufacture the guns.

I can't imagine how anybody would feel safer making a gun with a bayonet attachment illegal. Totally absurd.
