Kerry did not vote for the way Bush invaded Iraq. On the contrary, he specifically warned against it. He strongly warned Bush that if he rushed into a war without adequate prep, planning, UN inspections and coalition allies, that JK would hold his feet to the fire on it. And he did.

The problem in the Senate is that you only have two choices, yes or no. Kerry firmly believed that the right vote lay somewhere inbetween. And he was right. For that the Bushies called him a "flip-flopper".
