I wonder if the Californian commercial law guy has met his doom. A google search shows that Bill McDonald was the Department of Corporations enforcement director for 21 years until he retired rather than take a demotion in 2001. He was expressing his opinion and didn't mention you by name. I don't think you have a case. The biker who threatened your life was breaking the law. You could have filed a complaint with the police.
