Quite the font of anti-Muslim propaganda, aren't you? What fundamentalist hatesite are you copying and pasting from?

Apologies to the thread if I gave you the false impression that I am some sort of a spokesperson for Islam. I am not.

I only weighed in to stand up to bigotry, not to champion the religion of Islam.

Truth stands out clear from error. I have already done my best to respond to LongnShort in the rational and truthful sense. Because he has been raving uncontrollably in a hateful and bigotted manner. The Quran must always be taken as a whole message and there is a context for each of pieces he included that is far different than what he is using them for. Using bits and pieces to formulate a point is a corruption. That is what the extremists have done to hi-jack the religion.

This verse, for example:

"Slay them wherever you find them" (2:191).

This verse is often quoted to illustrate the character of Muslims. The context of this verse had to do with Muslims who were performing pilgrimage in the sacred precinct in Mecca; they were under attack and did not know whether they were permitted to retaliate. The verse permits them to fight back on this--but not necessarily any other--occasion.

In fact, the only situation in which the Qur'an sanctions violence is in self-defence

Here is my attempt to respond to his craziness. It just served to fuel his nutty rant.

"That there are corrupt individuals on the Earth is no surprise...nor is it a surprise to me that you would use their deeds for your own corrupt purposes."

The problem with all this for me is that I am not a very good Muslim in the 'Religious' sense of the word. Most practicing Muslims would immediately disqualify me for consideration in the brotherhood. I am definitely not a scholar, do not feel it is my place to be a spokesperson, and do not believe in 'debating' religions.

Best Regards,
Jewel
