It's how NZ was only 22 years ago, when one was allowed to take a little bit out for overseas trips [barely enough for accommodation] and everything was controlled.

Indian friends from Kerala, [who were living in Belgium, he working for Alcatel], had to decide whether to take the plunge back into India with the black hole effect being a significant factor. That was the same for us back in 1977 returning to NZ from Canada. Culture and family are strong pulls. They decided, with young children, that home was better so they children grew up Indian. Same for us.

Freedom is in short supply around the world, including in the USA, despite the cant from King George II.

There was a hilarious episode recently of a guy being arrested for doing manicure without a licence. concordmonitor.com
