I'm not sure I would call Vichy pacifist. I would call them collaberators with their conquerors- that is a rather different thing (imo): If you don't defend yourself after being attacked, the label pacifist fits. When the Germans attacked France in an armed assault, most Frenchmen refused to fight. Later when the Germans were in Paris drinking stolen cognac and sleeping with French wives and daughters at will, most Frenchmen still would not fight. That fits my concept of pacifist. The French are going to get another chance. Next time their conqueror is going to be Muslim militant extremists. Best thing we can do is warn French women to stop shaving.
