The FAR left and the FAR right have the same goals, IMO. That delineation of the political spectrum has always bothered me. I believe it's misleading, at best. A more accurate rendering would be something like... NO GOVERNMENT (anarchy) - VERY LIMITED GOVERNMENT (libertarian, classic liberal) - MIXED ECONOMIES (todays western systems) - EXTENSIVE GOVERNMENT (nominal freedoms, economic and/or personal) - TOTALITARIAN STATISM (both secular and theocratic) A definition of the political spectrum such as the above would put total freedom at one end and complete lack thereof at the other. -JB

But you are changing the subject. I didn't think so, since I thought your point was a complement to Bill's point, which was that it looked like it had been written by and for lefties. If you weren't posting in that context, then forget I mentioned it. If you were posting in that context, then please note that your list of characteristics of communism can apply to authoritarian regimes across the political spectrum and by framing questions around those characteristics the authors did not necessarily have communism in mind. You were quite specific in "correcting" my opinion I never correct anyone's opinion. I have been known from time to time to correct facts and to fill in gaps in understanding. If any change of opinion ensues, it ensues.
