VPHM is making money on Vancocin. Probably some are valuing it on cash plus earnings, plus some possibilities in development and IP.

Anecdotally, it seems that Vancocin is not held in reserve, but used at earlier stages of illness. My father-in-law recently had Vanco iv, while in the hospital for pneumonia. Then he had two more rounds for clostridium difficile in a nursing home, interupted by rounds of other drugs. It was scary to me that the nursing home routinely uses it for c. dif. in a crowded and vulnerable population. Obviously, there are factors I don't understand. (Explanation?)

BTW, father-in-law came home yesterday. Some of his neuro problems are worse following the infections, such that even transferring from one location to another is difficult with two helpers. He seemed to have much better affect today -- more responses, some singing, clearly enjoying his food. But slept a lot.
