And tax all income at the same rate. GOOD idea, John...Some of us have been saying that for a long time. Maybe the folks at low income levels under say....$25,000, could pay 1%, with increments of up to 5% at $40,000....and more increments of 8% $40-60,000....then a flat 11%-12% for EVERYONE else.....NO deductions. Just a flat tax....

I see Mike (uw) got the same impression from my typing as you did. I should have been clearer.

I was only talking about SS taxes and was arguing that eliminating the cap on income subjected to the tax was one step to improving SS. At present it's highly regressive. To do so, would make a "flat" tax for SS. From your point of view, I gather flat taxes are a good thing.
