My guess is a large proportion of that 81% has very negative views of the US because we are either viewed as supporting those same governments or are unduly bellicose or some such.

This has always been a damned if you do, damned if you don't, setup. Work with the governments in place=support=it's the US' fault. Try to pressure or replace the bad governments=imperialism=it's the US' fault.

The real problem, which as usual you omit, is that the entire Arab world is running aroung blaming everybody but themselves for their sorry situation, which is where all this conspiracy thinking - its all the fault of the Jews! the Crusaders! the US! - comes from.

The answer does not lie in US actions one way or the other, but in Arab self-responsibility.

h, and a third point, I can't find enough information on StrategyPage to see how reliable the data may be.

Well why don't you read them for a while to make a judgmeent? They post copiously, you know. Better yet, why don't you find some reliable data? nah, just kidding.
