You know I've been thinking about this- and reading the article, and I'm trying to figure out what the percentages are. And is there an argument that schools are hiding this information, as the church was, or moving teachers so they can continue to teach even though they are molesters? I don't see any evidence in the article for that sort of thing. It's a crime, and it seems to be treated (mostly) as a crime- although there is still that double standard for boys, the "good for you" attaboy for nailing an older woman. That's a problem of society, and not really something the schools are to blame for. I'm trying to figure out how it's "worse" in the schools. Considering how many schools there are, compared to priests with access to children, it seems to me that's not something we could say at this point AND when you throw in the coverups by the church, I think it's even harder to say the schools are worse. I've never heard of a coverup of this type of issue in a school, have you? I'm thinking right now that Newsmax thought this would push some happy buttons for certain conservative readers who would be pleased to think the church wasn't quite as bad as those darn schools- but I'm not sure the numbers or the science of collecting the numbers are really going to support the feel good glow.
