My brother was in the USMC on Iwo Jima. He met Ernie Pyle before Pyle's death. Always spoke very highly of him. jdn

John, I know you remember Ernie Pyle.

Nope, before my time. I've heard stories, however. My guess, however, that Pyle was like almost all journalists I know or have ever heard about, freedom of the press was one of the foundations of their lives.
