That seems to be an essential ingredient for success in politics, though interestingly, Helen of Helengrad doesn't need to even pretend to agnosticism, let alone arm-waving born-again mania.

Clinton used to amuse me with his sanctimonious look while he felt the girl in the vestibule. Religion has always been great cover for getting the money, the girls, and being the boss, not to mention enjoying some gory human sacrifice.

Being elected in the USA, where over half the population is either lying, or off their rocker, must absolutely require a good pretence of religiosity. It seems the brand isn't crucial, as long as one is superstitious.
