Sadly, my brother died two years ago, but I watched it. Very good program. When you think that 3 of the 6 people involved in the historic flag raising actually were then killed in the fighting on Iwo, it gives you an idea of just how terrible that campaign was.
Now I learn, my last brother, who was in WWII and Korea is dying from Cancer and not expected to live more then a few more weeks, that will be the end of my family that participated in WWII. 3 brothers, all now dead or dying. Soon there wont be many vets left from WWII. jdn

Quite a character, isn't he? I watch the show off and on, and saw the Iwo Jima one. He played "Gunny Hartman" in "Full Metal Jacket.".
