Is a prospective employer a legal represantative of Federal authority ?

The I-9 is a stupid piece of law, IMO. As an employer, one can only use the "pieces of ID and proof of right to work in the US" that they are given from the new employee. The employer has no real way to tell if the documents given are legit or not.... BUT the employer is required to copy the documents, and keep them in a special file.

The idiotic Congress that passes laws like this have NO way of actually relating to how stupid it really is. And how much money it actually costs the employer.

And the most stupid thing is to have to keep those files and is a Federal offense not to keep them, and yet our Government seemingly looks the other way as far as illegal aliens and the companies that hire them.
