Newt and Rush each avoided service in a lawful manner as did thousands. Desert Storm was during a time we had an AVF. I find it exceedingly silly to ask these types of questions since to support each of the many positions we may adopt during our lifetimes, we'd have to be cloned into multiple dozens of ourselves to take action to support each one....
