I didn't search for supporting articles to see if that claim is true or just another assassination by anecdote like I referred to in my earlier post. Krugman is not exactly a centrist - far from it - but he touches on important issues. The broader picture is pretty clear, too much asked of too few people for too long. The same pattern is becoming the norm in US embassies around the world, from what I have seen in the last five years. The powers that be in Washington and down the bureaucratic chain of command believe that they can only excel by doing more, more, more regardless of financial or human resources constraints. It's one of the big reasons I work for myself now. Setting your own goals is the only to escape the moronic empire-builders you find everywhere nowadays.
