"Under the PATRIOT ACT, my friends, the police can and indeed do arrest people and keep the arrest a secret."

You aint seen nothing yet. In a $US 34 Billion bill, approved by a 424-4 vote in the House of Representatives, Homeland Security priorities for next year will be set. The Chairman of the Senate Intelligence Committee is working on a bill that would renew the Patriot Act, letting the FBI subpoena records without permission from either a judge or grand jury. That, effectively, places the FBI outside the US system of courts and makes it into a self-authorizing internal police force. That is the classical sign of a Police State.
