BUT now that I look at these, it's no wonder they didn't get more attention. My recollection was that you were outraged by the amnesty aspect of it, as were many others here, but I could be mistaken about that. My original reason for bringing this up is that one of its purposes was to make sure that companies couldn't hire illegals, which is exactly what the '89 law was supposed to do. So it would seem to me that, before proceeding with a new proposal, we should be looking at why the old one didn't work, but the old one seems to have fallen off the radar.
