I read here that one of the Cheney daughters may have been in charge of procurements immediately after the Iraq invasion. Not sure though. If you don't know about that chances are it was a trial balloon by Demolibs...but I find it extremely difficult that no money is being re-routed somehow to the dealers in Wash. DC...

I started reading Crossing the Rubicon: The decline of the American Empire at the end of the age of oil by Michael C Ruppert. It's astounding that Cheney gets away with things like giving Halliburton a $7 billion contract to put out oil well fires in Iraq when they're already out. It's also clear that we invaded Afghanistan to restore the opium crop to all time new records. I always wondered why not just go after the criminals why take over the entire country? Well some footage of Taliban beating their women with sticks was all the cover they needed to restore their drug trafficking money back to the glory days. Now they have heroin addicts in Baghdad where previously none had existed.

He also recommends reading Drugs, Oil and War: The United States in Afghanistan, Colombia and Indochina by Professor Peter Dale Scott (2003.) Have you read this one and is it a good read?

Any other reading ideas would be welcome, I have a gift certificate I need to use :-)
