Alaska has more beach (aka coastline) than any other state. Most of it is very rugged and inhospitable, but there are some precious little coves that are very popular.

There is a place in Juneau called Sandy Beach. There is sand, alright. Ground up gold ore, busted china from the mining barracks and all kinds of metal.

Another beach I know of has a sort of sand from glacier outwash.

Most beach is very rocky.

I never got up to polar bear country. Too expensive up there.
