1. We've been involved with Iraq nonstop since the Gulf war. We've been involved militarily in the Gulf since the Iran-Iraq war. Recall the tanker war? The world has a major interest in maintenance of the free flow of oil.

2. The UN has sanctioned our being there now. See UNSC Res. 1546.

3. I doubt the number. Saddam killed many more than that.

4. No we haven't. We've always had enemies there. There may even be fewer today because many in the Arab world realize democracy is a possibility for them now - see my recent post on Walid Jumblatt on the Center thread.

5. What would the next war with Saddam have cost?
