"What century was that???"

How old are you? Europe was still rebuilding up through the 1970s and as a whole was a lost cost producer of a lot of things that now is done in China and other Asian countries. They weren't particularly wealthy until the 1970s. Just look at a movie made in Europe during the 1960s. One thing that should be noticeable is there are almost no cars, everybody walks or bikes. Contrast that with now...

I can remember seeing Made in Germany on many products here in the USA

What century was that???

Hmmmmm.......you do know that Germans were once the largest ethnic group in the US, don't you? That there many products we use that were started by Americans of German descent like Budweiser and Schwinn. But of course, Germany is a product powerhouse in its own right:

Ever driven an Audi or a Volkswagon; how about a Chrysler, Mercedes or BMV; ever used Weedmaster in the garden; how about Blaupunkt....ever listened to music thru a set of their fine speakers or their radios; Luthansa flies to many American cities; how about a Bayer aspirin; ever used Roundup to get rid of weeds; done any reading of Random House books owned by Bertelsmann as are Doubleday and Arista Records; do you think your wife, mother, girlfriend, sister et al ever used Nivea hand creams; ever get any insurance from Allianz.......they are in all the major American cities; ever used a Kingcraft compressor or generator....they're made by Aldi Sud; how about T-Mobile owned by Deustche Telekom......Catherine Z. Jones is always hawking their wares on the tube; how about a Leica Camera, a Porsche; SAP software; Ziess is famous for its lens and microscopes; Siemans has such a huge range of products from cancer vaccines to chips for Nokia cellphones; how about Airbus......most American airlines have a few of their planes............ENOUGH! There are so many German products that Americans consume I could go on til doomsday.

So now, what century did you say you lived in?
