Yep, but I can see the rightwing trying to find some excuse to take away the exit polls so that Diebold and ES&S can make up votes anyway they like.

At some point, REPUBLICANS have to become decent human being and representatives of people other than their campaign contributors and turn on Bush.

These things have happened before. It's the only moral thing for Republicans to do.

The neo-cons (emphasis on the con) running the Republican party are bullies and liars. There is no other way to describe them. They lie about everything and when lying doesn’t work the bullying starts. Having faced down a few bullies in my life, I know the only way to deal with these types of people is with a big stick and the guts to take a few lumps in the process. And if you whack ‘em a few times hard enough, they will back down.

About a week ago, British MP George Galloway ripped Senator Norm Coleman (R-Minnesota) a new one with his testimony in Coleman’s McCarthy-ish inquisition of the Oil-for-food scandal, or non-scandal, whichever you believe. From the perspective of a former pro wrestling fan, Galloway opened a political can of whoop-@$$!, Stone Cold Steve Austin style!

He faced down the bullies with a big stick called the truth.

If only House and Senate Democrats had the same inclination and courage. True; Mr. Galloway does not have to worry about being re-elected in the United States. True; the citizenry of England is a lot more politically alert than most Americans. But what is also true is that the Democrats have allowed the Republicans to frame every debate. Galloway took that away and made Coleman eat crow… and made him like it!

If you have the truth on your side, you have nothing to fear. In the last two presidential elections, the Democrats had truth squarely in their corners but failed to use it effectively, if at all. Former Vice President Al Gore should not have distanced himself from the accomplishments of the Clinton Administration, of which he played a significant role. He should have used the fact that America, despite the efforts of the Republicans, was in pretty good shape – economically, socially, and globally. I wish those who voted for the current resident would take a long look at America today and honestly answer the question posed 25 years ago by Ronald Reagan, “Are you better off?”

Senator, and former presidential candidate, John Kerry had so much truth on his side in this past election that he failed to use, it’s almost as if he took a dive. Much was made of the $87 billion that Kerry infamously voted for and then against. The whole “flip-flopper” thing could have been turned around by Kerry by spotlighting President Bush’s flip-flop in threatening to veto the bill Kerry co-authored making the money a loan and repealing the tax cuts that benefited very few of the morons that voted for Bush. And, I apologize if calling Bush supporters morons is offensive, but what else do you call people who vote against their own self-interests based primarily on homophobia?

These are just two examples of Democrats rolling over because they cowered in the corner as Bush, et al emasculated them armed only with bull fertilizer.

Recent events, such as the compromise reached in the Senate on the filibuster and judicial nominees are certainly steps in the right direction for Democrats. Please, ladies and gentlemen of the legislature, continue this path. I’ve seen reports of conservative blogs speaking as if the world will end because some Republicans actually do seem to value democracy. They only further prove how divorced from reality they are – to quote "Jimmy-Jeff" Guckert/Gannon.

Additionally, the Texas state Senate has tentatively approved the provision for people charged with capital murder to be sentenced to life without parole or the death penalty.

As I have written before, if you can string together enough small victories, you can effect change. These are small, but significant victories. Let us hope and pray we can continue the trend. To quote Robert DeNiro as Al Capone in The Untouchables: “You got an all-out prize fight, you wait 'til the fight's over, one guy's left standing and that's how you know who won.”
We haven’t won yet, Democrats. Keep swingin’!
