The Democrats have said for many years, that the "rich" should pay more.

they do not want to put "rich" to any number that would be a losing or offending their democrat folks. if you they label a family of four making over $100,000 a year rich and they get the feeling the democrat party is out to tax them more i expect these families will change parties.
