I cannot even deal with so many statements at the same time that I find so wrong or inaccurate or biases or whatever, J.C. I guess I could start with your perceptions that homosexuals are demanding to be treated as a protected class. They are not requesting special privileges and protection. They are asking for the same rights and protections that all Americans have. To not be discriminated against in employment or housing, and to be able to form unions that are legally recognized, so that they can protect the security of their families and enjoy the same tax breaks, etc. that heterosexual couples enjoy. The only reason homosexuals need protection is from the bigots running amok trying to hurt them. I'm sure you know there is a very large problem with hate crimes against homosexuals. I am aware that sexually transitted diseases are rife in the homosexual population. And they are soaring incredibly among young heterosexuals too! That is a medical, public health problem, not a reason to discriminate against these groups. I cannot help it if people misinterpreting the Bible and not acting in the tolerant and living spirit of Jesus in any way are so ignorant that they believe homosexuality is morally wrong. I just don't know what to do with any of this. It is hard for me to understand how someone can have homosexual relatives and friends and have the belief system you are espousing. I'm not being critical--I just cannot fathom where it even comes from, what the motivation is, nothing. I am really lost here.
