That won't play with many Americans at all. I don't even understand why Gitmo exists. I know these are bad guys, but what happened to the trials? And why can't we work with the governments they belong to, to extradite them?

Forgetting about justice for a second, because I do think that many of these people deserve to be killed. However, putting that aside for a second, how will this play with the Middle East? The Bush administration is the most PR and diplomatically challenged admin, I have ever seen. It's almost like they didn't learn anything about how to get along with other people in kindergarten.

Maybe it was prepared for the case that John Kerry is elected president. He said that he wanted to kill Al Qaeda (and you believed him, IIRC).
