Sure, it wasn't Bush's decision to make. But we could have pulled levers and pushed buttons to make it happen. At one point, the Coalition Provisional Authority was the government. They could have passed a mandate to that effect and any succeeding government would have found it to be political suicide to reverse that mandate. The voice of an empowered people is a very hard thing to ignore.

Bold ideas aren't ever easy to implement, but they can make the difference between success and failure.

Another idea I had was that Bush should have turned Iraq's oil industry into a corporation and then mandated that 50% of the shares go to the elected constitutional gov't, and the other 50% would be distributed as to all citizens of Iraq.

Interesting idea, but not Bush's decision to make. Despite the critics comments that "it's all about oil", the Iraqi oil is still the property of the Iraqi people.


It is? Have we forgiven all the Iraqi debt due to the war? If so, why are the Bushies say Iraqi oil will pay for it?
