For example, what does a libertarian think about having to take your shoes off at the airport to board a plane

They might be divided on that issue. If you think that what can be hidden in shoes is a serious threat you might support the policy you would at least tolerate it. Others would oppose it. Libertarians aren't monolithic.

Personally I tolerate the policy. I have less of a problem with it than with the federalizing of airport security, and I have less of a problem with that than I have with the massive government bailout of the airlines.

Congress would never approve mandatory breathalyzers connected to an ignition cutout in a vehicle to stop drunk driving

They might, but I would oppose it, not just for libertarian reasons but for constitutional reasons. Such a mandate, if passed, should be passed by the states.

How about biometric trigger locks for all guns, new and retrofitted over all existing weapons in the US?

Expensive and less than 100% reliable. Also it would be two easy for criminals to use older guns or to remove or disable the biometric trigger locks.

We take big, expensive steps in some areas and less in others. That is tacit tolerance, IMHO, for letting thousands of people get killed prematurely.

No more than not enforcing a national speed limit of 20mph and spending the money on new police to enforce it, is tolerance for letting thousands of people die in car crashes that would have lived had the collision been at a lower speed.
